Dear Queer Christian: A New Kind of Priesthood (Hebrews 5–7)
Dear Queer Christian,
You’ve probably been told—directly or not—that holiness isn’t for people like you.
That spiritual leadership is for the straight, the safe, the sanitized.
That empathy is weakness.
That softness disqualifies you.
That you can love Jesus, but don’t get too close to the altar.
But babe, that’s just not true.
Jesus became your High Priest not by climbing the church ladder—
but by descending into human mess.
By showing up with an open heart and a body that bled.
By holding space for people who had no space left.
He doesn’t need to be briefed on your trauma.
He knows it.
He’s been there.
And now?
He represents you.
To God.
Forever.
That means you don’t need a platform to be spiritual.
You don’t need approval to be priestly.
You don’t need a title to carry divine presence.
You’ve already been brought in.
So if you’ve been waiting for someone to call you worthy—stop.
You already are.
With fierce mercy and sacred permission,
—Hebrews (and every queer leader who knew they were chosen anyway)

Why Queer People Need a Better Kind of Leadership
Because many of us were told that only certain kinds of people could be spiritual leaders—men, straight, married, seminary-trained, clean-cut, unquestioning.
But Hebrews 5–7 challenges believers to rethink tradition:
The most powerful kind of priest isn’t the one in a pulpit with pedigree—It’s the one who shows up with compassion, scars, and zero pretense.
For queer people who’ve been shut out of pulpits, prayer teams, and leadership tracks, Hebrews is a holy rebellion.
It says: God’s authority looks like empathy, not ego.
And the priest who represents you is the one who actually understands your pain.
Reflection
Who told you you weren’t holy enough to be part of spiritual leadership?
Who made you feel like sacred things were only for “certain” kinds of people?
Because Hebrews says otherwise.
You don’t have to wait to be ordained by the system.
You’ve already been seen, named, and covered by the One who made the system obsolete.
Spiritual maturity doesn’t require approval.
It requires presence.
And Jesus—the ultimate Priest—is already standing with you.
